I began working in the green/eco industry eight years ago which took me from oil and gas plcs to environmental finance firms. I co-founded Power of Youth, a global network for early stage entrepreneurs in 2011. Over several years we ran bespoke programmes for high growth businesses in Asia, Africa and Europe.
I stepped back from this organisation in 2015 and began looking at the unsexy business of waste. I worked with two of Scotland’s largest organic recycling firms and explored digital/new economic paradigms with Snook, running a virtual hack looking at the sharing economy and regenerative cities as part of the 2016 Disruptive Innovation Festival. This year (2017), I designed and organised Scotland’s biggest circular economy event with Future X on its Hydro Nations Circular Economy Leaders Conference.
These past 12 months I’ve had my eyes opened to the role of tech as a tool in moving towards a more circular and fairer economy. To this end I’ve enrolled as a software engineering student at Makers Academy, where I plan to deepen my understanding of using tech for good, not evil 🙂
I also play the harp 🙂
